The new-look Cereals 2019 is on track for Boothby Graffoe, Lincs

Cirrus 03-2CC Double-Shoot seeding combination to make its debut at Cereals
Cereals 2019 sees further expansion of the Cirrus trailed seeder range. Designated the Cirrus 03-2CC Double-Shoot, these hydraulic folding 4 & 6 metre trailed drills now feature a second distribution head and coulter system that can be used for either sowing a second seed type or applying fertiliser directly into the seedbed without coming into direct seed contact.

The new model utilises the 4,000 litre pressurised seed hopper. This is split 60:40 into two compartments and is taken from the Cirrus 03-2C Single-Shoot and enables the operator to calibrate two different materials at two different application rates. The two seed hoppers can be easily accessed via the fold down walkway on the side of the hopper. The electric calibration is extremely straight forward and is carried out nice and safely from ground level by remotely using the TwinTerminal 3.0; this means the operator avoids having to climb in and out of the cab to enter in the quantity collected. The amount applied can be varied by using a twin rate prescription map for part-area, site specific seeding via GPS. Having arrived at the correct rate, the operator can then decide where each of those two materials will be placed – either both materials being delivered to the TwinTeC+ or RoTeC pro coulters at the rear or one material at the rear coulters and the second to the FerTeC coulters that are arranged in front of the tyre roller. This enables the materials to be placed at differing depths depending on moisture requirement and seed size to achieve the optimum germination.

However, due to its extreme flexibility, the conveyor system can be either set to a conventional Single-Shoot system where the two materials are both placed in the same seed row, such as when using a starter fertiliser for cereals or a mixture of the two. This means that a little fertiliser can be sent to the seed coulter kick-starting the plant’s development post-germination whereas the remaining bulk of the fertiliser is placed in between the seed rows via the FerTeC coulters for uptake later.

A Crushboard in front of the cultivation discs, the S-Pack full-width tyre packer rollers across the front of the drill, seed pipe blockage monitoring systems and the new AmaTron 4 operating terminal are all options on the new Cirrus 03-2CC. Also, the GreenDrill 500D can be added to give a third metering system that can be used for under-sowing grass seed, applying slug pellets or micro-granular herbicides.

An additional feature on the Cirrus 03-2CC is the ability to alter the coulter pressure automatically on the move via a soil texture map. This means that, because of the live on-board hydraulic coulter pressure system, the planting depth can be maintained across fields with a varying soil type by reducing the coulter pressure on the lighter areas and increasing it on the heavier parts.

Centaya drill combination goes passive
The Centaya 3000 Super harrow-mounted, pneumatic drill combi was designed, by use of the new QuickLink system, to fit on top of the new 01 generation rotary cultivators where the weight of the seed drill sits on the reconsolidation roller allowing the tines on the rotary cultivator to ride over stones without having to lift the drill.

However, for those growers who farming system does not need a PTO-driven soil tillage tool, the Centaya 3000 Super can also be mounted onto the new CombiDisc 3000. Featuring two rows of 410 mm concave, fine-toothed, boron steel discs, the CombiDisc is designed for either seedbed preparation following the plough or as part of a conservation tillage regime. The 410 mm discs are designed with a high peripheral speed in mind and so an intensive mixing effect, the stagger on the discs and the distance between the front and back rows, has been optimised to ensure excellent seedbed preparation and a good through passage of soil and straw. Depth control for the discs can be either set manually, using a cartridge of depth adjusting spacer plates, or hydraulically by means of a hydraulic ram from the tractor seat; ideal where there is frequently changing soil types.
The discs run on oil-immersed, maintenance-free, twin row roller bearings which are filled for life and sealed against dirt ingress by a sliding face seal system. Each disc assembly is mounted on to the main frame by means of rubber suspension blocks. These rubber mountings ensure the optimum contour following across the full working width with the discs behind the tractor wheels being adjustable in depth to take into account any wheel marks left behind. Wheel track eradicators can be fitted ahead of the CombiDisc if required.

Plus, following on from the launch of the 3 metre Centaya 3000 Super, 2019 sees the introduction of the wider Centaya 3500 Super in a 3.5 m working width as well as the Centaya 4000 Super in a 4 m working width. Both these models are only available for use on a PTO-driven KG rotary cultivator.

FlowCheck for ZA-TS spreaders
Cereals 2019 sees AMAZONE introduce its FlowCheck system for monitoring the shutter output on ZA-TS mounted spreaders. Despite the sieves, which are fitted as standard to the hopper, a blockage to either aperture could still possibly occur. The reason for this could be either foreign objects or encrusted fertiliser lumps which, having got into the fertiliser spreader during the loading procedure, and thus deposited on the sieves, eventually blocks the sieve. Or, on the other hand, on days of high air humidity, hydroscopic types of fertiliser such as, for example, urea tends to stick to the hopper walls or lump together. This might then result in the fertiliser bridging and subsequent blockages.

AMAZONE now offers the new FlowCheck system for all hydraulically-driven ZA-TS models. This is a system which constantly monitors each aperture for blockages and also if the spreading unit is running empty. The flow pressure within the hydraulically-driven spreading disc motors is measured via sensors in the hydraulic system and if this changes, due to a blockage in the aperture and thus a reduction in the application rate, the system detects this and sends an alarm to the driver via the terminal. This is monitored for both the right and left hand sides individually. Thus, on either side of the machine, any big variations in application rate are automatically detected.

Whereas FlowCheck ensures that the application rate on either side is the same under all circumstances or, in case of deviation informs the driver, the total application rate of the spreader is monitored and regulated via the weighing system. In addition, the driver is always informed via the weigh-cells of the actual fill level in the hopper.

LAMMA 2018 hosts the launch of the UF2002

After its introduction to the farming world at Agritechnica last month, the new UF 2002 mounted sprayer will debut to British farmers on January 17th - 18th at LAMMA 2018 in Peterborough.
The trend towards increasing tank sizes for minimising refill times, and wider booms to improve work rates, has led to a complete new design for the model.

The new Avant grain and fert front tank to make its debut at AgriScot

6000-2C Grain & Fert front tank-based, power harrow seed drill combination has proved to be a huge success. The new four-way split tank is carried, out-front, on the well-known steering tyre packer system off the FPS 204 and so provides complete consolidation over the full width of the tractor thus increasing output and reducing ground pressure.

3C Demo Tour 2017

It doesn’t matter how impressive that new bit of kit looks when it’s polished and sitting on a Cereals or LAMMA Show stand, there is nothing quite like seeing it in the flesh out in the field where it belongs, doing what it does best - working . So 8 tractors – and 8 machines - are out on tour around the country this summer doing just that and they are coming to a field near you on:

Cataya comes to Cereals 2017

The trend latterly when it comes to drill combinations has been very much in favour of pneumatic metering systems. Larger hopper capacities and the introduction of electrically-driven metering systems with push-button calibration and automatic GPS-based headland shut-off systems have been the main driving factors. However, the simplicity of a conventional seed drill with its lack of fan and improved rearward visibility still holds some appeal to many end-users. The new 3...
