CatrosXL, in widths from 4 m to 8 m
New AMAZONE compact disc harrows for mixing in large volumes of organic matter at high work rates
The new CatrosXL compact disc harrows, with bigger diameter discs, are now also available in working widths from 4 m to 8 m. They are available as a folding three-point linkage model in 4 m, 5 m and 6 m working widths, which, when optionally equipped with a drawbar and bogey chassis as the trailed TS variant, can then also be used on smaller tractors. In addition, the CatrosXL with TX central running gear is available in working widths of 7 and 8 m. With a high speed of up to 18 km/h, these new models ensure maximum area coverage whilst achieving perfect results and yet minimal fuel consumption.
The key features of the CatrosXL are the large, 610 mm discs spaced 25 cm apart, and the increased distance between both the rows of discs and between the discs and the roller for the high through-passage of large amounts of plant matter. In addition to the coarse-serrated discs for dry and heavy ground, customers can also choose the fine-serrated option. This ensures a full-surface cut and maximum crumbling effect, even in cases of extremely shallow working depths. The disc spacing of 12.5 cm also ensures a complete working of the entire soil surface. The specific angle of attack on the two rows of discs ensures the straight running behind the tractor and the optimal mixing with very little tractive force required, even under the toughest of conditions. The disc bearings, with maintenance-free face seal and lifetime lubrication, are well-known across the complete Catros product range and have proven themselves a million times over.
For perfect contour following and precise working depth, the discs are individually mounted on rubber sprung buffer blocks which also offer stone safety protection. The specially moulded, cast disc arm has been redesigned to meet the increased loads and guides the disc at a consistent depth through the soil under all conditions. On the larger working widths, the 7 m and 8m machines can also be optionally equipped with ContourFrame, a feature unique on the market. The two wings of the disc harrow unit are hydraulically preloaded and can therefore adapt upwards and downwards to optimally follow any unevenness in the ground.
Adjustment of the working depth is infinitely variable and can be carried out mechanically down on the machine using turnbuckles or hydraulically from the cab during operation for maximum comfort. The link between the two rows of discs ensures that both rows always work at the same depth. The entire machine always remains parallel to the ground, and there is no risk of the machine being knocked off-kilter by changes in working depth. In addition, when the working depth increases, so does the distance between the disc element and the roller, so that sufficient clearance is available in front of the roller for the soil to settle again. All the pivot points on the disc element are maintenance-free. The height of the side discs of the machines can be adjusted separately, which ensures a level working profile even on the joint between bouts.
The trailed TS models with a bogey chassis and drawbar in 4 m, 5 m and 6 m working widths are characterised by a high degree of smoothness in work because the running gear can be completely swivelled up over the frame. So, in addition, the extra weight of the running gear ensures uniform penetration of the discs into the soil even under the toughest of conditions. The TS variant features shock damping as standard, which is activated under certain conditions to ensure smooth operation. When on the headlands, the machine can be driven on the roller in order to achieve quick turn-round times and high work rates.
The TX machines with 7 m and 8 m working width have integrated central running gear. Thanks to the optimum weight distribution, the machines can be transported safely on the road. At the same time, the position of the running gear offers maximum driving comfort due to the high manoeuvrability on the headland. The running gear can be equipped with over-dimensioned 700 mm tyres so that the ground pressure during manoeuvring is minimised and the self-driving effect of the wheels is guaranteed, even in very sandy or wet locations.
11 different rollers are available for the new CatrosXL, which means that AMAZONE can offer the ideal roller for reconsolidation and depth control, depending on the type of soil and soil conditions. Trailing tine harrows are also available for many rollers, these are especially useful for secondary stubble cultivation or for seedbed preparation.
