The new Avant grain and fert front tank to make its debut at AgriScot
With the first machines having already clocked over 2000 acres in the field, the 6m folding Avant
6000-2C Grain & Fert front tank-based, power harrow seed drill combination has proved to be a huge success. The new four-way split tank is carried, out-front, on the well-known steering tyre packer system off the FPS 204 and so provides complete consolidation over the full width of the tractor thus increasing output and reducing ground pressure.
The metering system is electrically-driven all round so that both grain and fertiliser can be easily calibrated at the press of a button, and the split system allows the use of a separate variable rate application map to both seed and fertiliser. The new tank features a twin-fan set-up that demands very little tractor oil flow to maintain full capacity and so the Avant is easily capable of pushing high rates of product back to the four metering heads on the rear seed rail. All the heads are equipped with tramline systems to avoid the over-dosing of either product across the rest of the drill width when tramlining - both the seed and fertiliser rates being reduced automatically on tramlining. Half-side shut-off of the drill is carried out by using the GPS-based GPS-Switch section control that gives automatic headland shut-off for minimising driver stress, reducing seed wastage and avoiding leaving dressed seed on the seedbed surface.
The large capacity hopper, available in sizes from 2,000 litres, has been designed with maximum visibility in mind and is easily accessed via the front folding step. To help protect the tank’s contents in inclement weather or dusty conditions, it comes complete with a convenient roll-over hopper cover which rolls back to reveal the full loading area for easy filling from big bag or bucket and the low-mounted sieves ensure that any foreign objects are kept out of the metering system. Any hopper residues can be simply dropped out using the quick-emptying system.
To the rear, then the proven RoTeC pro coulters guide the seed and fertiliser down into a pre-consolidated strip created by the ribs on the 580 mm diameter wedge ring roller. This ensures the maximum seed/soil contact and better moisture draw just to the seed as well as improved drainage in between the rows depending on the conditions. The over-dimensioned KG 6001-2 folding rotary cultivators offer a choice of tines to work either direct into stubble or following the plough. Good underbelly clearance prevents stones from being trapped in the rotor system and the 8mm thick trough and 60 mm diameter one-piece rotor head and shaft make sure that the combination will run and run.
So if it’s a 6m power harrow/drill combination that you are looking for then you can find us at AgriScot on Stand 231 on Wednesday 15th November at Ingliston Showground, Edinburgh. Of course, it’s not just all about drills as there will be all sorts of other kit there as well plus the full Amazone Team to answer any questions that you may have so come and give us a look.
